Guess what? These straw-beauties were harvested YESTERDAY, and grown right here in #YEG

One of the challenges of focusing on seasonal local produce in the prairies is the obvious lack of summer jewels (like ) during times of the year that they just don’t grow here in the prairies (chocolate dipped for Valentine’s Day in February for example)

If you can find them, they’re white in the centre, flavourless, and imported from thousands and thousands of miles away.

Thankfully, some research led us to @grohereharvest – the first indoor vertical strawberry farm in Alberta.

Between their #YYC#YEG and soon to open #Nisku facility, they’re on the cusp of producing millions of pounds of strawberries YEAR ROUND for Albertans.

CEO David Dial delivered our first round yesterday – and the smell / flavour / texture of these were toe curling delicious.

We’ll be featuring these on our Valentine’s Day menus – including our “amour” cake (still available for preorder, link in our bio!)
